Sauteed Swiss Chard
Ingredients
1 tsp crushed pepper
3 medium cloves of garlic ( pounded or finely sliced)
1 tsp cumin powder
1 lb Swiss chard ( remove the stems and cut the leaves)
1 tomato ( sliced)
½ diced onion
1 tbsp vegetables oil or olive
2 medium jalapeno peppers ( remove the seeds and sliced)
lemon juice, black pepper, and salt to taste
Key Points
1. Wash and cut the Swiss chard.
2. Dice the onion. Remove the seeds in the jalapeno peppers and then dice the jalapenos.
Instructions
Heat the oil over medium slow heat in a large pan. Add the onion and cook until the onion becomes tender. Add the jalapeno,swiss chard, crushed pepper, cumin, and salt. Cook by stirring frequently until the swiss chard becomes tender, then add the black pepper and garlic. Take the chard off the oven, pour lemon juice over the chard, and serve it with the tomato. This dish goes well on a tortilla shell or straight.
